Donate Panel

First, you need a PayPal account. (if you already have one, sign in. If not, get an account, add a bank account to it, then continue.)

After you're signed into PayPal, go to the Merchant Services tab.

Next, click the "Create payment buttons for your website" button.

Then, click the big, blue "Create a button" button.

On the new page, change the type to "Donation", type in your organization's name in the box provided, and make any other changes on that first page.

If you would like to save your button for future use, click on the row that says Step 2 and check the box.

The advanced options row is for if you want to use the IPN service or any other advanced features. The PayPal IPN allows you to get notifications back from PayPal when someone donates so you can do stuff on your website based on your user's donations. That can be covered later.

Once you're done, click the yellow "Create Button" at the bottom.

You will be presented with some HTML code that looks something like this:

You can't just stick that in a panel, though. You need to php-fusion-ize it:

openside("Donate");
?>

closeside();

Paste the whole thing into a panel (left, right, whatever), enter your admin password, change the visibility if needed, save it, and enable it.

Now when someone clicks on Donate on your site and their donation is successful, you get money! :)

There are several options I didn't cover here that will need explanations later on, but for now, this will get you started.

Fill out the donate panel as below. The highlighted fields are required.

When you're done, click Save Panel. You should be redirected to the panel admin page.

Make sure the panel is active. If the line isn't faded and shows a "disable" button (highlighted below), then it's active.

If you still need help, PM me some login details for your site and I'll take a look. I'll need the PayPal code supplied to you and access to the Panels admin section.

Would it be possible to do this for a service other than PayPal? Maybe Circle Pay, Google Checkout, Stripe or anything else?

If I remember correctly, I only used the button from paypal, and set it up in a panel in fusion9. Just try it in a panel...

so if it works this way with paypal

openside("Donate");
?>

(why couldn't you use any other code here)?

closeside();

Hmmm, it should. Maybe I will see if I can add a different payment provider to it and get it to work for me. Thank you.

No problem, keep us advised...some of us are always looking for new ways to generate funds Grin

Every service should have a donate code generator, a user could then use the Fusion Tools add on to covert the code to an Php-fusion panel.

Thank you very much for that information. I will be checking into that all very soon and if I am successful, I will definitely release my panel to the general public to use as well.
